• Novice Courses (Candidates have never used a fork lift and have never recieved formal training)

• Experienced Courses (Candidates have used fork lifts before and require formal training)

• Refresher Courses (Candidates have had training before and require a refresher to keep operations safe, effective and compliant)

• Conversion Courses (Candidates have driven similar trucks, eg Reach truck, and require training on a different type of fork lift truck)

Fork Lift trucks are widely used, there purpose is to aid with moving of materials and goods, however they are involved in almost a quarter of all workplace transport accidents, the deaths and injuries that are caused can affect and ruin lives and business, even when incidents do not cause injuries, they can still be very costly to machines, fittings, buildings, and goods.

As employers/duty holders you are required to provide basic training and testing for all fork lift truck operators, having properly trained operators can reduce the risk of fork lift truck accidents. Operators of lifts trucks are anyone who operates these machines whether as a secondary or primary part of their job.

Candidates will be able to gain skills, abilty and confidence to further enhance their progression, employers will be gaining a skilled employee who is competent in operating Fork Lift Trucks in the workplace

• Introduction to the lift truck
• Understanding of PUWER & LOLER
• Safe use of manoeuvring the lift truck
• The use of the hydraulics controls
• Pre-use inspection of the lift truck
• Battery care and maintenance
• Manoeuvring in restricted areas
• Stacking and de-stacking in the racking system
• Lorry bed loading / unloading
• Handling of various types of loads
• Stability of the lift truck
• Assessments

At the end of the course candidates will complete 3 stages of testing, a 25 question theory paper, pre-use inspection test and a practical test of basic operting skills

Upon successfully completing the course, each candidiate will recieve a lift truck certificate of basic training for the lift truck catergory and machine, the certificate is in house only and non-accredited.
